August, 2005 - Waterford Trial Track
Hello Everyone, What a beautiful day we had for the August Race Meet and didn't we have some exciting races! We had 4 races and 2 slips
Race1: Bondy, Tess and Kylen
What a close race and some fantastic times! Bondy has set a new record for the club (with what records we have) with a finishing time of 24.01 secs! Shaving a whopping second off his previous finishing time in July (25.08 secs). Tess was only just behind him with a time of 24.15 secs. Kylen did extremely well too with a time of 24.30 secs. These three ran so well together, Congratulations to all.
Race 2 Peppa and Daffodil
It was Daffodil's first time out of the box and even though Peppa showed her how to do it, it was a little over whelming for her. Therefore Peppa won her race with a time of 27.61 secs. Maybe in September with a third dog in the race Daffodil will catch on.
Race 3: Freckles, Tigger and Scud
Again, a nice close race. These three boys did very well. Tigger won gold with a time of 25.38 secs, Freckles came second with 25.76 secs and Scud brought home the bronze with 26.15 secs. Well done.
Race 4: Bailey and Pearl
Good Start for both dogs, but ¼ way round Bailey decided she didn't want that lure after all and turned back. Pearl was happy to just run around the track. She crossed the line with a time of 29.27 secs.
Slip 1: Chloe, Lily and Daffodil
Tess was given a second run to guide these girls home. Good run by all dogs with Chloe actually taking some interest in the lure and not just the other dogs. We might make a racer out of her yet. Crossing the line in this order – Chloe, Lilly and Daffodil.
Slip 2: Jackson, Jo Jo, Bailey and Kylen
Kylen was given his second run and Bailey was given a second chance run after turning back in race 4. Again all dogs did very well. Jo Jo and Jackson were all serious and were bent on getting that lure. Great finish for both.
After the race there was a great opportunity for the beginners to practice getting used to the confines of the box. With a bit more practice we'll get them used to it.
